When Life Gets Busy, Pray

When life gets too hard to stand, kneelWhen life gets too busy and I feel like I am going to lose it, I hear a quiet voice asking, have you prayed lately?

Chances are the answer is no. I do talk to God often and everywhere. A lot when I’m driving or when I’m lying in bed at night. But when I get too busy, I forget. I forget to ask for help, for guidance, and for strength.

But when I do remember, I feel so much better. I ask God to help me to feel confident about my decisions, to find the right words in difficult times, and to be grateful for my blessings instead of feeling overwhelmed by my hurdles. “Giving” my problems to God is always a challenge. I want instant gratification. I want answers now. But again, when I pause and “listen” to God, I am reminded that he’s got it all under control. I just need to have a little more faith. And patience.

So today I’m going to pause. I’m going to start by thanking God for all of the things I do have. A messy house, means I have a home; my full calendar of events means I have people who love me; my looming decisions means that I have opportunities. Then I’m going to ask him to help me stay focused on what is truly important which will help me spend my time and energy wisely. I will pray for the strength to face change and embrace it, and for God to keep my family safe and happy to support their crazy momma.

BtBWhen you are feeling overwhelmed, when you feel lost without any answers, make yourself pause and ask, “Have I prayed today?”

I’m confident that God is listening whether you are in the car, in a cubicle, or in a church pew. He’ll listen to rants or verses from the bible. The serenity prayer I’ve included is one of my favorites. Pin it, print it, share it, use it.

And here is a link to a great Prayer for a Busy Day.
