Skinny by Summer!

Are you looking for the answer to rid yourself of belly bulge and jiggly arms forever? Yeah, me too.

The title is a little misleading because, well, I’ve got nothing. No magic potions, no magic moves, no miracles to have you skinny by summer. I’m sorry!

Chances are that your resolutions have wavered by now. Eating bitter new grains, choking down unsweetened yogurt, or drinking flavorless fat flushes left you starving and you said screw this. I don’t blame you. We aim high, we land low. We eat cookies.

The good news is, you don’t have to be skinny to rock a bikini. It gets to be over 100 degrees here in the summer and I know some places the humidity is dreadful. Wear shorts, show off your arms in a tank top- LOVE YOURSELF!!

What’s stopping you from buying that yellow polka dot bikini (or fine, even a tankini) or buying Old Navy tank tops in every color? Who cares what your neighbors, your play group moms, your classmates at the high school reunion, or the people in your community think? You will be the only one suffering if you decide to sweat it out in long pants and sleeves this summer. If they want to judge you for being comfortable in your own skin, that’s their problem, not yours (disclaimer, I am talking about age-appropriate summer clothes here, please don’t go Miley Cyrus on me and wonder what went wrong.).

check in with scales lessI will be the first to tell you to make exercise and eating well a high priority in your life, but that isn’t what this is about. Regardless of how small your steps to self -improvement are, you need to love who you see when you look in the mirror. That extra cottage cheese on the thighs or fold of fat in the arm pits- they are part of you, your story. If you don’t like what you see, then you can take steps to improve it, but it is still important to love what you’ve got now. Remember that you’ve only got one body, one shot at this life. Respect your body by putting healthy food into it and perhaps love your liver by going easy on the alcohol. Your skin would appreciate some sunscreen and H2O. After that, flaunt it- because you deserve to enjoy your summer, no matter what size you are!
