What Makes You Move?

workout playlistGive me some good music and I can get almost anything done better, faster, and have way more fun. I can be dragging on the treadmill watching an episode of Law and Order, then I switch to my iPod and I am instantly recharged.

I admit that I have caught myself shaking my booty to a song during lunges at the gym or playing “air drums” when I run through the neighborhood. But that sure beats the alternative of giving up early and not getting in the workout I had hoped for.

Some artists that tend to rotate on my workout playlist are Pitbull and P!nk, mixed in with some 80’s classics and a little country. When you’re creating a playlist, pick songs that literally make you want to move. This may seem like a no-brainer, but keep in mind that just because it’s your favorite song, doesn’t mean it’s good for your workout. Slow beats or romantic melodies don’t exactly induce bursts of energy to power through your last set of crunches.

It’s also a good idea to rotate your playlist once in a while. When I find myself skipping through the songs, I know they just aren’t doing it for me anymore. In case you need to update yours, these are the favorites on my playlist right now. I even let my guy add in his top five. We don’t always agree on music, so his is another perspective for you.

I’d love to hear from you- what songs make you move?? Comment below!
